Myanmar

People always tend to ask "Which place did you like the most?". Every traveler knows that this question is impossible to answer. Places, Countries, Cities, Cultures, People are so different that you can't compare them not to mention pick the best. But from time to time you come to a place where everything feels right. You dive into the culture, chat with locals, stumble upon amazing spots, eat delicacies and lose your breath in front of stunning nature. When all that comes together it reflects in a deep feeling for a place which make you most likely chose it as the answer to that question.

Myanmar is my answer.

I was lucky to discover that amazing piece of Asia in the beginning of 2014. Formerly known as Burma, Myanmar and it's people have a very eventful history. Under a military dictatorship from 1962 till 2011 the country was completely cut off from the outside world. Not wanting to speak about all the downsides and cruelties that period brought over Burma, there is one benefit. The rich buddhist culture is still intact and not influenced by the ubiquitous western culture that conquered other Asian countries like Thailand.

I've never seen Buddhism being so alive and present in the people's daily life as in Myanmar. And that reflects in how they behave with each other and with you as a visitor as well. I've met so many friendly folks that made me feel welcome even without talking - just with their smile. Burma has the stunning nature with the Inle lake, the stunning ancient historical sites with Bagan for example, the delicacies with it's Tea Leaf Salad. But what really made the difference for me were the people and that reflects in my photos.
